X-Men Lineups: 80s

Post Phoenix-Saga
[Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #138 (1980) to Uncanny X-Men #200 (1985)]

With the departure of the grieving Cyclops, the team was joined by the returning Angel and the young mutant Kitty Pryde. Storm became the team leader and the team soon fought the shape-shifting Mystique and her Brotherhood. The X-Men prevented the Brotherhood from assassinating Senator Robert Kelly, whose death would have triggered the Days of Future Past future in which the robot Sentinels would have killed most mutants and super humans; and go on to control New York City. Angel quit the team after having issues with Wolverine's membership in the team and Cyclops returned in time to fight Magneto.

Lilandra soon faced a coup led by her sister Deathbird, who had the aid of the insectoid alien Brood. The X-Men and the space pirate Starjammers, led by Cyclops' father (unknown to both men), Corsair (Christopher Summers), opposed, and the mansion was destroyed during an attack. The Shi'ar helped rebuild the mansion, providing advanced technology. However, this caused the Danger Room to develop consciousness, mutating it. Its consciousness called out to Xavier, which was ignored as he chose instead to focus on the X-Men's training. Later, Xavier was secretly implanted with a Brood egg, and the X-Men were abducted by the Brood and taken into space. Fearing the X-Men dead, and under subconscious commands from the larval Brood within him, the Xavier gathered a new class of students, the New Mutants. The X-Men survived battles with the Brood in space, and were cured of their own Brood implants by the space-faring Acanti race, returning to Earth with the small dragon Lockheed. They defeated Xavier, who had been transformed into a Brood queen. The Starjammers then assisted in transplanting Xavier's brain into a non-paraplegic cloned body.

Angel was soon kidnapped by Callisto, the leader of a group of disenfranchised mutants called the Morlocks who wanted him to be her partner. Storm claimed leadership of the group, defeating Callisto in a duel to secure Angel's release. Brotherhood member Rogue came to Xavier, desperate for help in controlling her psyche-absorption powers. Xavier made Rogue an X-Man, much to the chagrin of the other members. Cyclops left the team to marry Madelyne Pryor (secretly a clone of Jean Grey created by evil geneticist Mr. Sinister). The X-Men, along with other super-heroes, were taken by the near-omnipotent Beyonder to fight in a contest against Earth villains on Battleworld. After they returned, Storm was accidentally struck by a depowering weapon meant for Rogue, removing her powers. She left the team to cope with the loss. Nightcrawler became leader and Rachel Summers, the daughter of Cyclops and Jean Grey in the Days of Future Past future timeline, joined the team, claiming the mantle of Phoenix. The X-Men soon entered into a conflict involving Alpha Flight and the Asgardian god of lies Loki. They journey to Asgard to rescue the New Mutants and Storm, who were kidnapped by Amora, the Enchantress.

Magneto's X-Men
[Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #201 (1986) to Uncanny X-Men #227 (1988)]

When the X-Men returned, they learnt that Xavier had left Earth for the Shi'ar galaxy to recover from a brutal beating at the hands of anti-mutant bigots. Xavier left a seemingly reformed Magneto as headmaster of the school. Magneto also joined the X-Men. A powerless Storm and Cyclops had a duel in the Danger Room for the leadership of the X-Men. Cyclops lost the duel, leaving the team to spend time with his wife Madelyne and their newborn son.

Rachel Summers soon had the intention of murdering Hellfire Club Inner Circle Black Queen Selene as revenge for the latter's evil deeds. However, she was stopped by Wolverine who injured her, leaving the team. Shortly after, the X-Men and the superhumanly lucky Longshot were turned into children by the invertebrate Mojo and his servant, the mystical Spiral (Rita Wayword). The New Mutants briefly graduated to X-Men status to rescue them. (check Ad-hoc X-Men) When Mr. Sinister's hit-team Marauders slaughtered the Morlocks, the X-Men fought to stop them losing Kitty Pryde, Nightcrawler and Colossus to severe injuries. (check Mutant Massacre crossover) New recruits Dazzler, Longshot, Havok and British telepath Psylocke replaced them, with Colossus rejoining after healing from his injuries. The team, without Magneto, and Madelyne Pryor - now abandoned by Cyclops - sacrificed their lives to defeat the Adversary, a sacrifice which was broadcast worldwide. (check Fall of the Mutants crossover).

Public relations manager Cameron Hodge convinced his former college roommate (Warren Worthington) to use his vast fortune to fund an organization of mutants that pretended to be human mutant hunters but in truth rescued young mutants to protect and train them. Unknown to all, Hodge secretly hated mutants and planned to use X-Factor to fuel public animosity and and anti-mutant agendas. Angel gathered his former X-Men teammates Beast, Cyclops, Iceman and Marvel Girl (Jean Grey) to form the X-Factor. The team used their X-Factor disguises to cover their activities as the heroic mutant X-Terminators.

Beast was transformed back back to human form and the team battled Apocalypse and his Alliance of Evil, and US government operatives Freedom Force (formerly Mystique's Brotherhood of Mutants). Over time, X-Factor rescued Firefist (Rusty Collins), Artie Maddicks, Skids, Boom Boom, Leech, Caliban and Rictor. Caliban would join the team briefly.

The media soon discovered that Angel was X-Factor's backer and following his severe injuries during the Morlock Massacre, Hodge manipulated doctors to amputate his wings, wrestled control of his fortune and attempted to murder Angel through a staged suicide, making the world believe him dead. Hodge went on to secretly manipulate and created rifts in the team. X-Factor's frustrations with Hodge came to a head when they fired Hodge, battling his anti-mutant Right organization which attacked X-Factor and attempted to capture their wards.

X-Factor fought and defeated Apocalypse and his Horsemen, which included an alive Angel as Death. As a result, X-Factor became public heroes. X-Factor eventually reunited with Angel, now the violent metal winged Archangel.

Over time, the team helped Archangel gradually recover his former humanity, and weathered Beast's temporarily faulty mental processes and transformation back to his blue animal-like form, and Iceman's fluctuating power levels.

They fought battled multiple threats, including Cyclops' ex-wife Madelyne Pryor (a clone of Jean Grey) in the demonic "Inferno" invasion of New York City, during which the team was reunited with Cyclops' son Nathan Summers. Following "Inferno", the New Mutants stayed with X-Factor for a time with several of X-Factor's wards following the New Mutants, and following X-Factor's extended voyage to outer space to rally a world threatened by the Celestials, X-Factor and the New Mutants joined forces with the X-Men to battle a cyborg-transformed Cameron Hodge and the mutant-rights abusing nation of Genosha in Xtinction Agenda

When Cyclops' son was infected with a techno-organic virus during another battle Apocalypse, Cyclops was forced to send him to the future for healing, eventually returning as the adult Cable. X-Factor then helped saved X-Men associates from the control of malevolent psychic entity Shadow King in Muir Island during the Muir Island Saga. After that, X-Factor members rejoined the X-Men and Cyclops' brother Havok turned the team into a US government-sponsored team.

Australian Outback X-Men
[Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #229 (1988) to Uncanny X-Men #250 (1990)]

The team was resurrected by the goddess Roma and went underground, believing that if the world thought them dead, their families would be safe and enemies off-guard. The X-Men relocated their base to the Australia Outback, defeating the cyborg Reavers and seizing their base. They faced Brood-infected mutants, and encountered the mutant slave-based country of Genosha. Embittered by Cyclop's abandonment, Pryor made a pact with the demonic N'astirh, unleashing her latent powers to become the Goblin Queen, assisting a demonic invasion of New York City. The X-Men were re-united with the original X-Men (now X-Factor), learning that Jean Grey was alive. Madelyne died after an attempt to kill Jean failed. A subsequent battle between X-Men/X-Factor and Sinister destroyed the mansion. (check Inferno crossover)

The X-Men drifted apart as team members fell to various threats and crises. When the Reavers launched an attack on the remaining X-Men (Havok, Dazzler, Colossus and Psylocke), they passed through the mystical Siege Perilous, a dimensional portal that grants those who pass through it a new life, to escape.

I wish the way of art was the same, if it can not be better, as in the 80s.

Nowadays way of art is terrible. Too much detail, to much explicit, and according to de draws, are a all peace of shit.

Better draw the precise elements, and leave the rest for the reader's imagination, than draw every little detail being all trash.
